This week celebrate’s Springboard’s Front of House Festival where each day employers and students get together to share knowledge and experiences on specific job roles, highlighting job opportunities, career paths and progression routes in to hospitality:

Monday – Barista Day
Tuesday – Front of House and Guest Services
Wednesday – Leisure/ Tourism Visitor Services
Thursday – National Waiters Day
Friday – Drinks and Beverages

On Tuesday I was invited to speak to the Travel and Tourism students at St Charles Sixth Form College in Ladbroke Grove.

I presented to them on the topic of ‘5 Star Customer Service Excellence’. I ran an interactive workshop with quizzes and group work where the students discovered how vast the hospitality industry is. I showed how through my own career path the importance of networking and having a can do attitude will take you far. To explain to them what I do as a Hospitality Consultant I showed them a short film which resulted in a round of applause! We then did some group work to look at their understanding of how to look after our customers and I left them with some top tips on what they can do to progress their own careers.

The students at this college continue their involvement with the Front of House Festival by visiting hotels and taking part in the National Waiters Day Race organised by Fred Sirieix.
