Mayfair Park and Tower Race 2016
I was up bright and early this morning and checked in to the Hilton London Park Lane, not to stay, but to register for the Mayfair Park and Tower Race 2016.
This race is an annual event to raise money for Galvin’s Chance, the brain child of Chris Galvin and Fred Sirieix. The monies raised from this charity race go towards helping disadvantaged 18-24 year olds gain training and work placements in the hospitality industry, to get their careers off to a flying start. It costs £1,700 to train each individual that makes it on to the programme, and the programme can only run from the generous dontations made to Galvin’s Chance.
The race started at 8.30am and the challenge was to run 5Km round Hyde Park and to scale the 28 floors of the Hilton London Park Lane to reach Galvin Windows Restuarant at the top. This is the first year I have run this race and as well as being great fun, it was tiring as those 28 floors certainly slowed you down. The only way is up to get to that finish line though. I managed to complete the race in 37:17. The struggle up those stairs was worth it for such a great cause. Please do keep the donations and sponsorship coming in. You can sponsor me on this link.
The highlight of my morning was meeting Fred! 🙂
